Background: Lack of proper sealing of canal leads leakage and penetration of smear layer into the canal which is the most important factor for failure of root canal treatment. Purpose: The objective of the research was to compare the apical leakage between Glass Ionomer Cement and Endomethasone as a sealer either with or without irrigation of EDTA 15%. Method: Thirty two lower premolar – root human teeth was divided into 4 groups (n=8). The teeth root length was made similar to 15 mm. The groups were instrumented to apply K – type files with step back technique. During the preparation, irrigation is done using NaOCl 5,25% and gutapercha obturated with lateral condensation technique. The first group was irrigated using 10 ml EDTA 15% and then 10 ml NaOCl 5,25%. The second was irrigated using 10 ml NaOCl 5,25%. The first and the second utilized Glas Ionomer Cement sealers. The third was irrigated using 10 ml EDTA 15% and then 10 ml NaOCl 5,25%. The fourth utilized 10 ml NaOCl 5,25%. The third and fourth groups utilized Endomethasone sealers. All teeth were being rontgen and then kept in relative humidity during 2 days. The root surfaces were coated with nail varnish and immersed in black ink. The research was analyzed using Anava and T test. Result: Difference apical leakage occured at 4 groups. The apical leakage of GIC sealers was smaller than the endomethasone. Conclusion: The irrigations of EDTA shows a smaller apical leakage compared to the one without EDTA.
